The substitute product which is used to produce silicon metal is known as silicon fumes. Silica fumes only gain its benefit when it is in concrete, that is, when it is tighter, durable and harder. Silica fumes for concrete are the strongest and most durable. They are supplied only by the manufacturers of concrete additives. This is added only when concrete is produced.

Silicon metal is only produced in huge a furnace which runs on electricity. When this metal is made, it produces smoke, this smoke is accumulated and then it is sold by the name of silica fumes. It is mainly used as a mineral additive for concrete. Silica fumes are generally consisted of non-crystalline silicon dioxide. These fumes are too reactive as a pozzolan.

Silica fume particles are individually very small or tiny to be more particular. It is so fine in nature that it has got a very large surface area. It is a reactive pozzolan and when it is added to concrete it increases the strength of the concrete which makes it a pocket friendly material and has the power to withstand the weight of a skyscraper. Silica fumes for concrete which has a low water consistency is a high resister for chloride ions to penetrate. The new bridges and repairing of an existing structure is done with the help of inducing silica fumes into concrete.

It is not easy to make a silica fume or it does not happen naturally. It takes some experienced people to make a decision on whether to include silica fumes in concrete to get the best properties of concrete. This silica fumes are available in two different forms – either wet or dry. It is added during the production of concrete in any of its form.
