Chana Dal Pancakes

Chana Dal is considered to be one of the healthiest pulses. This healthy Chana Dal when combined with vegetables just doubles the level of proteins and other health benefits. Also, the ginger and green chillies give that extra taste as well as the spiciness to the dish. These Pancakes are also known as the ‘Pudlas’ by Gujarati people. Cook these Pancakes on a slow flame so that the ingredients get cooked properly. Here’s an easy recipe to make these Chana Dal Pancakes. 

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup Chana Dal
  • 1/2 cup chopped methi (fenugreek) leaves
  • 1/2 cup chopped palak (spinach)
  • 1/2 cup grated carrot
  • 4-6 chopped curry leaves 
  • 1 tablespoon low-fat curd (dahi)
  • 1 sachet fruit salt
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1-2 chopped green chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 teaspoon oil

Making of Chana Dal Pancakes:

1. Thoroughly rinse Chana Dal in enough water and then soak in fresh water. Then transfer the soaked Chana Dal into a blender and blend into a coarse paste. You can add more water if required. 

2. Transfer the batter into a bowl and add methi leaves, palak, grated carrot, curry leaves, grated ginger, green chillies, salt as per the taste and mix well.

3. Just before you are ready to eat these Pancakes, add curd and fruit salt to the batter. Mix well. Place the non-stick pan on the gas and heat it. Once the pan gets heated, place one portion of the batter on a non-stick pan and let it cook on a medium flame.

4. Drizzle oil on the upper side of the Pancake and turn it upside down. Cook till both the sides of the Chana Dal Pancake is golden brown. In the same way, use the remaining batter to prepare Pancakes.

5. Yummy Chana Dal Pancakes are ready to serve hot along with spicy green chutney or sauce.
